Disabled veterans who do not normally file a tax return will have to file a federal return for 2007 in order to take advantage of the rebate checks that will be mailed later this year. The federal government will begin issuing rebates to citizens in May 2008 as part of the $152 billion economic stimulus package signed into law by President Bush. In most cases, payments will range from $300 to $600 for individuals and $600 to $1,200 for joint filers. For more information, visit the IRS' Economic Stimulus Payments Information Center.
